Kalobeyei Initiative for Better Life (KI4BLI) is a refugee-led nonprofit founded in 2018 to transform the lives of displaced and host communities in Kalobeyei, Kenya. Through education, livelihoods, and community development, we're building a future rooted in dignity, sustainability, and hope.
From humble beginnings to a community movement — here's how KI4BLI grew to become a trusted force for good.
KI4BLI was born from the vision of refugee leaders who believed in creating lasting solutions within their own community.
We became a registered community-based organization under the Kenyan Ministry of Labor and Social Services.
Our refugee-led school opened its doors, providing quality early and primary education to underserved children.
We launched Reemar, an e-commerce platform connecting local artisans and entrepreneurs to global markets.
Over 2,000 people reached through our programs, 63% of them women. 1.5M KES in revenue generated to support sustainability.
Light Academy received official registration from the Kenyan Ministry of Education, enhancing its credibility and reach.
Be part of our continuing story as we work together to create lasting change in our communities.
We are driven by a purpose that goes beyond programs — we are building futures.
To provide market-based skills to refugee and host communities for decent work and sustainability.
A resilient, independent, and sustainable future for African communities.
We strive to leave no one behind.
We serve with purpose and empathy to uplift the vulnerable. populations
We build resilient and self-sufficient communities
We embrace creativity and adaptability to meet evolving needs, driving impactful change
Building sustainable impact through our three interconnected flywheel pillars
Building knowledge and skills that empower communities to adapt, overcome challenges, and thrive in the face of adversity.
Creating pathways to sustainable income generation that reduce dependency and foster economic self-reliance.
Fostering holistic growth that ensures long-term prosperity and improved quality of life for individuals and communities.
Our model creates a self-reinforcing cycle where learning builds resilience, earning creates independence, and development ensures sustainable well-being. Each pillar strengthens the others, creating momentum that drives lasting change in refugee and host communities.
